Assistant Ecologist – Woodbridge, Suffolk
Salary: £21,000+ (dependent on experience and/or pro rata)
The Landscape Partnership is an established and award-winning multi-disciplinary practice with projects in a broad range of in sectors including residential, retail, healthcare, public realm and open space, green infrastructure, education, health, transport and infrastructure, mineral extraction and renewable energy. We have a friendly team of experienced Ecologists, Landscape Architects, Urban Designers and Arboriculturists.
We are currently seeking to appoint an Assistant Ecologist in our Woodbridge office. Work undertaken will typically include:
- Preliminary Ecological Appraisals
- Protected species survey and assessment
- Reptile and/or newt translocation
- Advising contractors on site
- Biodiversity Net Gain Calculations
It will be of benefit to your application if you have all or some of
- Graduate or Qualifying membership of CIEEM
- A degree in a relevant discipline
- One or more protected species survey licences e.g. great crested newts, bats
- Experience and ability to carry out Phase 1 habitat surveys with reasonable botanical skills (e.g. FISC Level 2 or above)
- Experience and ability to survey the commoner protected species such as reptiles and badgers.
- A driving licence and the availability of a car to travel to project sites is essential.
Applicants should be self-motivated, flexible, organised, good at working both independently and as part of a team and able to deliver work to a high standard. We expect you to be able to work to reasonable deadlines and prioritise workloads and have good written skills. Good verbal communication skills, a flexible approach to work and taking proportionate responsibility are important. We expect ability in using Microsoft Office products and it would be an advantage if you can use Adobe Creative Suite and/or GIS.

We would also consider applicants who may not meet all the requirements, but can instead show how they are ambitious, good at learning and keen to engage in ‘on-the-job’ training that we can provide.
We are ideally looking to fill a full-time position, based in our Woodbridge office. However, we would consider part-time applicants and applications for working in our Norwich or Bedford locations. We are currently working flexibly working, with a combination of office and home working when not on site doing surveys.
