The Four Seasons Hotel London at Ten Trinity Square is looking for a strong Assistant Director of Engineering to join our team.

Four Seasons Hotel London at Ten Trinity Square is housed in a Grade-II* listed heritage building, and includes 100 guest rooms/suites; 41 private residences; 3 restaurants (including 2* Michelin-starred La Dame de Pic London); extensive Private Members' Club; large Ballroom, 2 events penthouses and smaller meeting rooms; as well as a luxury Spa featuring an indoor swimming pool, vitality pool, steam room and sauna. Because of the varied and complex nature of the technical systems used at the hotel, a traditional hotel engineering background may not be sufficient for this role and we are looking for someone who has extensive experience managing complex building engineering systems in historic buildings.

About the Assistant Director of Engineering role:

The Assistant Director of Engineering supports the Director of Engineering and executes all aspects of planning activity related to resort building and grounds maintenance, including fire, life & safety, electrical, plumbing, gas, HVAC, refrigeration, interior and exterior structural items, painting and decorating. Ensures all physical assets have a fully functional inventory and preventative maintenance program in place with appropriate reporting, repair, and replacement program tied with a structured procurement program. Responds to inquiries and problems in an efficient, courteous and professional manner to achieve maximum guest satisfaction while complying with all Four Seasons’ policies. Works closely with all contractors and construction firms for property led projects, including planning, execution and follow up. Work across all departments to ensure achievement of the resort’s Safety and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) goals. Participates in Green Team meetings, ensuring active engagement from all participants.

Essential Functions:

  • Possess a high degree of technical proficiency and adaptability with new technology such as BMS, EMS, Fire, Life & Safety Systems, Guest Tek, Mirror TV, Lutron, MS Office Suite, MS Excel Spreadsheets with formulae functions, Birchstreet, Fourth Payroll, HotSos, WorkDay, Planner, MS Teams, Yammer, and other related online platforms and mobile apps.
  • Lead all Purchase Orders and Capital Expenditure Request forms in compliance with company finance policies with full cycle follow ups from planning to execution with thorough documentation trail.
  • Ensure proper and timely execution of all work order requests with follow up, accountability, and reporting.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules for all physical assets within the resort and ensure appropriate condition reporting to Director of Engineering.
  • Work across all departments to ensure achievement of the annual ESG Field Goals and KPIs.
  • Weekly property walks inspecting the hotel footprint in detail, and regular meaningful updates to Director of Engineering on building status.
  • Ensure utility data is reported in Hotel Energy Portal (HEP) monthly, and that progress towards environmental goals are reviewed in Green Team meetings.
  • Implement and maintain distribution system of all R&M related items from inventory.
  • Have thorough knowledge of P&L line items and trends for the Engineering department and provide input on monthly forecasts and annual budget development for resort utilities and related expenses.
  • Provide technical advice and implementations on Health and Safety requirements
  • Assess and recommend on all service contracts for optimal utilization of scope and future renewals.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to engage the workforce around environmental and social impact projects.
  • Support the Director of Engineering with major renovation projects in penthouses, fitness areas and restaurants.

Qualifications:

  • Skilled and passionate about driving a high-tech and expansive physical product forward.
  • Extensive industry knowledge on building maintenance and energy management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to conduct and lead trainings on various skill levels to develop future engineers.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related software.
  • Minimum two years experience as a Assistant Director of Engineering
  • Strong background in managing complex buildings housing multiple complex systems such as hospitals. Due to the complex nature of systems used at the hotel, a traditional hotel engineering background may not be sufficient for this role.
