Assistant Director, Insight, Policy & Strategy
Salary - £80,126 - £119,226
Location - Hybrid, Birmingham
How would you drive change, tackle inequality, and improve lives in the UK’s most diverse city?
There’s so much happening in Birmingham right now. And what an incredible place it is for people like you to have real influence and impact. Building a Birmingham that is fair for all is our highest priority. As our new Assistant Director, you’ll have the opportunity to see results that connect directly to your work.
We want you to lead the development and implementation of evidence-based policy and strategy, designed for delivery and ready to change lives.
Our newly launched City Observatory will be our collaborative catalyst for insight and innovation; we are giving you the chance to shape the future of the Observatory as a fundamental part of our approach to inclusive growth, improving outcomes for citizens, economic development, tackling inequalities and levelling up.
We know we can do more to tackle inequality and harness the strengths and opportunities of our city’s diversity. Your leadership of our equalities & cohesion service will help us turn our bold action plan into results for our communities, citizens and workforce.
We are determined to reach out, understand and involve our diverse communities across the city. As the leader of our Public Participation function you will play a key role linking citizen involvement, insight and decision making across the council.
This is a leadership role that will place you at the heart of the action in a great city and will play to your strengths in relationship building and influencing at the highest level. You will work closely with our Chief Executive, her colleagues and politicians, key stakeholders, senior partners and community leaders.
We want to recruit the best person for this role. That probably means persuading you to join us from another high-performing role at the centre of a significant and high-impact organisation. Your passion for tackling injustice and improving society will have been the guiding principles of your work to date, and will be reflected in your achievements and impact. It’s highly likely that you’ve been engaged in creating opportunities for change based on insight and evidence and in turning this into meaningful, impactful policy and delivery that changes lives.
It’s time to tell us about your strengths and the experience that has led you to apply for this role, as well as highlighting how this role contributes to your aspirations and career objectives.
