THE ROLE…

As an Assistant Designer, you will be working predominantly with the Senior Designer to support multi categories including Dresses/Tailoring and jersey. While also assisting the wider design team across the brand where needed. Identifying key trends and influencers will be an important part of this role to ensure we are first to market with key product areas. Agility with the ability to multitask is also important. Miss Selfridge is a multi-product brand so there will be opportunity to get involved in most product areas, working towards ownership on your own category.

What you'll be doing...

  • Assisting in research, development, and design for Miss Selfridge, including identifying key shapes for the season, colour, fabric and building a range alongside the senior designer which creates first to market pieces and offers choice for our global customer base.
  • Integrating yourself into a focused brand way of working, always thinking head-to-toe.
  • Building relationships with suppliers and advising factories on direction, construction, key details, materials, and trims.
  • Adhering to the critical path to achieve deadlines, ensuring product is developed for the relevant and optimum selling period.
  • Create mood and colour boards and share creative ideas to shape and develop the Miss Selfridge collection and to create trends for the season. This may also include shop, social media, catwalk and street style reports and sourcing new fabrications and trimmings.
  • You will also work alongside the buying teams to reacted to sales information and alongside your Senior designer present design ideas and develop product to drive the range.
  • Supporting our culture by driving Diversity, Equity & Inclusion strategies.

Qualifications


Who We’d Like to Meet

  • An amazing attitude and passion that reflects the Miss Selfridge DNA.
  • 2-3 year’s experience in industry.
  • Passionate about vintage and strong sense of style.
  • Strong commercial handwriting and understanding of the Miss Selfridge Brand and Customer.
  • Someone who is forthcoming and confident in presenting exciting new ideas back to the Senior designer and wider team.
  • Photoshop, Adobe, CAD and ideally hand sketch.
  • PLM knowledge beneficial
  • Key eye for print & colour
  • A fashion forward perspective who is immersed in everything to do with the Gen Z customer.
  • Strong time management skills and strong organisational admin skills
  • A strong team player.
  • The confidence to identify problems and make improvement suggestions, seeking practical ways to overcome barriers and remaining calm under pressure.
  • Willingness to travel in the UK as required, for supplier meetings and inspiration/ development Trips.
