Position: Assistant Cruise Manager

Location: ABP; Port of Southampton
Purpose:
Responsible for managing all aspects associated with cruise calls at the respective terminals within the Port of Southampton.
Accountabilities:
- Responsible for the facilitation of safe, effective and efficient cruise calls, including planning and delivery of cruise operations as a Duty Cruise Manager
- Liaison with cruise customers and relevant stakeholders to ensure all information surrounding lay on requirements is received within a timely manner, with any anomalies planned for accordingly with the information distributed as required
- Assist other members of the cruise team with the account management of cruise lines and key stakeholders as required. This may include but not be limited to working on projects, inaugural events etc
- Assist other members of the cruise team with the functional and operational management of the cruise terminals
- Proactively manage customer satisfaction, to support customer retention and development at Southampton. This will include monitoring and resolving customer/stakeholder concerns related to the cruise operation and ABP services
- Promote a successful Health & Safety culture, striving towards the company’s Beyond Zero behavioural safety ambitions and acting as a role model for this, ensuring compliance with Health, Safety & Environmental policies and procedures at all times
- Pro-actively liaise directly with Landside Planning to ensure Southampton city infrastructure meets the needs and supports the port on a cruise turnaround day (traffic lights, matrix signs, traffic management)
- Through teamwork and independent projects, identify and deliver workstreams that enhance cruise operations
- Proactively aid the Operations department to work in conjunction with the Cruise department to mitigate any conflict between other Port Operations
- Coordinate with ABParking and Landside Planning over space utilisation and service provision to relevant cruise customers.

Experience, Skills & Competencies
Essential
- Experience of working within a highly competitive and pressurised operating environment – ideally having worked in shipping, port operations, logistics or the cruise industry
- Self-motivated, flexible approach to work, disciplined and organised, a decision maker
- Resilient with the ability to lead and inspire others
- Passionate about customer service and operational quality
- Ability to effectively plan and organise, meet tight deadlines and react to challenges with solutions.
- Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
- A sound knowledge of all H&S related matters with a willingness to undertake further training
- Ability to build strong relationships both internally and externally to the organisation with the ability to communicate effectively
- Maintain an understanding of confidentiality and the sensitive nature of information with an awareness of required discretion
- Able and willing to work outside normal office hours and at weekends to cover cruise calls as required
- Full current driving licence
- Computer literate, experience of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
Ideal
- Experience of leading operations teams through complex situations
- Awareness of the multi-function operational parameters the Port of Southampton provides
- Ability to use personal vehicle for business use
- Financial awareness and have a good understanding of controlling costs
