Assistant Company Secretary – £40,000 to £50,000 for Norwich / £55,000 to £65,000 for London
Here at Aviva, we are looking for an ambitious Company Secretarial professional, who is keen to take the next step in their legal career! A bit about the job:
You will support Aviva’s General Insurance Company Secretarial team, ensuring the provision of high-end company secretarial and corporate governance support to enable the Boards within Aviva Insurance to set and achieve strategic goals. You will also lead on a defined portfolio of Aviva Insurance boards and board committees, as well as provide support and advice on a range of topics from Company Law and Regulatory Rule compliance activity, through to relevant codes of corporate governance, regulations, and guidelines. We also need a Company Secretarial professional who has exceptional senior stakeholder management skills, as you will act as a trusted adviser (up our board and executive level) through exercising good judgement and solid legal knowledge.
Aviva introduced “smart-working” in 2020 and encourage flexible working; however, the successful post-holder will need to be based a commutable distance from either our London or Norwich offices.
Skills and experience we’re looking for:
Extensive company secretarial and corporate governance knowledge, gained from working in a regulated environment
Superb senior stakeholder experience i.e., be confident communicating up to C-suite and INED level, thanks to working for a large corporate organisation previously
Solid knowledge of company law, administration, and corporate governance (Financial Services sector knowledge would be highly desirable)
Excellent self-management i.e., the ability to work independently, making business critical decisions
Attention to detail, matched with excellent presentation & report writing skills
What you’ll get for this role:
Annual salary of £40,000 to £65,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
Bonus opportunity of 10% of annual salary (actual amount depends on your performance and Aviva’s.)
