We currently have an exciting vacancy to join the Newcastle Hospitals Charity Communications Team.
Newcastle Hospitals Charity is the official Charity of the Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and the region’s largest healthcare Charity.
If you are enthusiastic, passionate and enjoy a challenge, we are looking for an Assistant Charity Communications/Media Officer to work with the Charity team to help to support the development and implementation of a digital communications strategy.
Reporting to the Communications and Development Manager, this is a fantastic opportunity to be a part of the Charity’s continuing growth and transformation by implementing high quality communications both internally and externally on multiple digital platforms.
This role requires a dynamic candidate with excellent communications skills and relevant experience, with the expertise to develop and adapt a range of robust and effective, proactive and reactive communications to a variety of internal and external audiences.

- Maintain, input and retrieve information from departmental/communication databases and office systems

- To assist in the development and implementation of an agreed strategy to raise the profile and income streams of the Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Charity.
- Identifying good ‘news stories’ from fundraising events and activities and write press releases and articles for newsletters/publications/website.
- Develop and maintain good relationships with regional and local journalists and reporters.
- Assist in writing copy for promotional leaflets/posters/publicity materials/Trust Annual Review.
- Ensure charity website information is current and update on a regular basis.
- Assist in the production of a media report for quarterly charity meetings.
- Assist with branding/promotion of individual charitable funds and provide advice on effective promotion.
- Ad hoc duties relating to fundraising projects/public and trustee enquiries.
- The Assistant Communications/Media Officer will work closely with the Charity Communications/Development Officer and Head of Fundraising to ensure that a focussed and co-ordinated strategy is in place.
- The post holder will be able to work to tight deadlines and deliver projects assigned to them by the Trustees/Communication & Development Officer and Head of Fundraising to agreed quality standards and timescales.
- Highly developed written, presentation, interpersonal and communication skills to work with large groups or individuals both internally and externally.
- Ability to provide and receive complex information and communicate this clearly and concisely to clinical and administration colleagues.
- Assist in delivering a marketing/communications service for the Charities including providing support on the design of strategies, project and communication plans, publicity campaigns, branding, design, editorial, events management, digital media, printing and evaluation, for example: assist in the production of an annual newsletter and preparation of articles for the Trust’s
- Working with a team of fundraisers and data support team and to be able to successfully deliver a major volume of work in short timescales requiring excellent prioritisation skills.
