Assistant Buyer (Mobile Accessories)

Positioned within the commercial team, you will be right in the centre of a fast paced team, the Assistant Buyer role will support the Buyer to bring the most compelling range and great value products to our customers.
You will help select and negotiate product ranges and pricing. You will need to have great relationship building skills, working closely with our supplier partners, the go to market team, online and operations teams.

Responsibilities:
- Support the Buyer with day to day running of the Mobile Accessories category, Mobile Accessories is a wide area covering everything from phone cases to power products
- Support the Buyer in developing a best in class eco-system proposition (e.g Headphones, Smart Watches) liaising with other Buying squads and suppliers
- Support the Buyer with management of supplier relationships in line with our overall commercial supplier strategy and the category strategy
- Work with suppliers to develop a strong understanding of the future technology roadmap, enabling the category to adequately plan ahead for likely changes in customer trends and demand
- Support the Buyer in Negotiating product ranges – cost pricing, additional terms, exclusivity, distribution, stock availability
- Pricing the product range in line with agreed category CPI targets
- Responsible for daily competitor checks to ensure that CPI targets are met but also ensure that the buyer is aware of any additional promotional activity in the market
Key skills:
- Good judgment and decision-making skills to enable the right actions for the category
- Numerical and analytical skills to review data and provide recommendations/actions plans to drive sales, profit and cash
- Good inter-personal and communication skills, capable of working cross functionally to achieve the desired results
- Customer champion with excellent commercial awareness and understanding of customer needs
- Good working knowledge of SharePoint, Teams, Excel, Word and PowerPoint as well as MS Office workflow tools
- Educated to degree standard or equivalent preferred but not essential
