About The Role
PD&MS Group have a great opportunity for a Assistant Buyer to join our progressive Procurement team based in Aberdeen on a full time employee basis. Role is required to assist with all aspects of buying with regards to acquisition cost, delivery and continuous improvement.
Duties -
Participate in assisting with vendor assessments, bid reviews and contract award formalities
Assist Buyer and Materials Controller/Expeditor in preparing bid summaries and procurement status reports
Assist team in reviewing monthly progress reports from vendors/suppliers and report on cost and schedule deviations
Supplier selection and management
Communicate with suppliers to achieve required service and meet project need
Communicate with engineers to assist and/or guide them in the preparation of material requisitions
Assist buyers with direct negotiations in the commitment of purchases, front cost negotiations, competitive bidding, market and vendor knowledge
Provide backup support to the procurement team
Assist in accurately analysing and evaluate quotes from vendors
Monitor supplier inspection invitations
Attend supplier close-out meetings when required
Prepare weekly and ad hoc reports as required
Participate in on call rotation as scheduled
Assist supply chain management as required
Assisting in amendment of variations in respect of engineering changes and monitor budget and schedule as required
Meeting with vendors/suppliers if required
Assist in planning and controlling deliveries, including returns
Ensure compliance with applicable Industry Codes and Standards, HSE Alerts, Statutory Instruments, Client Specifications and Legislative
Requirements and establishing order of precedence on a project-by-project basis
Demonstration of safe approach in working practises
About You
This position is an entry level role which would suit someone who has previous experience in an internal sale's position or that has recently completed a formal scheme and looking to broaden their experience. The successful candidate would ideally have a minimum of 3 standard grades at grade 3 or higher or equivalent and be competent in the use of MS Office Applications. Full training will be provided.
