Information for the role of Assistant Bursar (Finance)/College Accountant

Salary £73,040-£79,792 (depending on experience) per annum

for 36.25/hours per week

You will be supporting the Senior Bursar in all aspects of the financial management, planning, reporting and analysis of the College’s financial affairs.

To be considered for this interesting role, you will need to have:

  • A recognised accountancy qualification (ACA, CIMA, ACCA or CIPFA)
  • Degree level education
  • Proven success at managerial level, ideally in a service or commercial organisation
  • Experience of working with line functions to establish budgets
  • A track record of successfully managing and developing staff
  • The ability to initiate and adapt to a culture of change management
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills
  • Sound planning, organisational and problem-solving skills with the ability to set and meet given deadlines.

The ideal candidate will be a team leader who motivates by example with a willingness to make a positive contribution to the life of the College.

Details of the role
The post of Assistant Bursar (Finance)/College Accountant is a permanent full-time role, reporting to the Senior Bursar.

Hours of work are 36.25 hours/week with an unpaid 30-minute lunch break, although there is potential for a degree of flexibility on start/finish times. The annual salary is £73,040-£79,792 (depending on experience) per annum for 36.25 hours per week (steps 65-68 on the University Salary Spine).
