Job description
Responsibilities
· Operate till accurately and efficiently.
· Learn stock range and arrangement in order to assist customers to find books and make appropriate recommendations.
· Answer customer enquiries politely and effectively.
· Use computer to search book databases in order to find and recommend books, advise on availability and place customer orders.
· Unpack book deliveries, check invoices, identify customer orders.
· Tidy bookshelves to ensure books kept in good condition and in correct order.
· Assist at author events.
Hours
· Saturdays 10 – 4.
· Additional hours by negotiation to cover Christmas peak, holidays and author events.
Skills, qualifications and attributes
· Highly organised, enthusiastic, conscientious and motivated.
· A “can-do” attitude.
· Work well as part of a team and independently.
· Educated to (or studying) A level or equivalent life skills. GCSE level Maths and English.
· Commitment to providing excellent customer service.
· Good knowledge of books and authors and a love of reading.
· Excellent communication skills.
· Familiarity with computers.
