Role Summary
The assistant accountant is a key role in supporting the Finance Manager in ensuring key financial processes are completed to enable the accurate production of the monthly/annual financial statements and to ensure proper financial controls (all reconciliations done and clearing accounts cleared).
Main Responsibilities
- Sales invoicing - ensure all flights are properly invoiced to customers in line with each customer contract
- Customer account maintenance – ensure new accounts and changes are made in line with the customer contract
- Vendor review
- Review of vendor payment details and advise Purchase Ledger of any changes required
- Changes to bank details confirmed with supplier
- Major account management finance support – work with the operations account manager to ensure that all invoices are raised promptly and that all costs are properly recharged and that all customer queries are responded to promptly.
- Monthly balance sheet reconciliations and review
- Accounting for IOM subsidiary – month end journals, reconciliations
- Assist with preparation for Statutory accounts
- Assist with VAT returns
- Assist with Tax return preparation/queries
- Vendor creation and payment review
- Assist with project to automate the vendor payment process
- Assist with update to vendor onboarding process
- Updating bank payment details in Business Central
- Intra group recharges – ensure all intra group charges on the balance sheet are promptly invoiced each month
- Customer cost recharges – ensure all costs are promptly recharged to the customers
- Bank Reconciliations –Review bank reconciliation for month end financial statements
- Adhoc
- New inventory system implementation impacts on finance processes
- Intra Group review
Academic/Educational Requirements
- Educated to ‘A’ level or equivalent
- Accounting/Finance qualification
Required Skills/Experience/knowledge:
- 2-5 years experience within a finance team
· Knowledge of Airline Industry an advantage
- Excellent IT skills specifically ERP systems (Microsoft Business Central preferred), and Microsoft Excel.
- Clear and concise written and spoken communication skills
- Ability to present written information in a structured and balanced way
- Complete tasks on time, especially during financial period ends
- Excellent interpersonal skills and be able to deal effectively and professionally with both internal and external clients and suppliers.
- Proactive, confident, self-starter with ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to work to strict deadlines.
- Attention to detail, accuracy & quality minded
