About The Role
We’ve got an opportunity for a Technology Asset Manager to join the Technology team at our support centre in Bradford.
In this role you'll ensure that Morrisons’ software licence entitlement position (what licences do we own) and deployment position (what licences do we use) are understood and managed and that cases of under-licensing and non-usage are identified. You'll be advising on the purchase and use of software, in each case in order to minimise expenditure on software and risk of non-compliance with licences, and to maximise return on investment in software. You also be responsible for hardware asset processes and managing a team to ensure that processes are being followed (eg return of laptops).
Here at Morrisons our Software Asset Manager gets involved in things like this;
Lead the ongoing adoption and benefit realisation of the Snow licensing tool
Advises on the software asset management approach for the business
Provides regular insights and reporting to key stakeholders around licence compliance and usage, advising Technology leadership team on strategies
Developing and maintaining working relationships across the business units to ensure that software use is disclosed and controlled
Developing and communicating the software usage policy
Regularly reviewing software deployment and usage to identify and outline potential efficiencies and cost savings
Providing advice on dealing with software regulatory bodies such as the Federation against Software Theft
Managing the response to software vendor audit or license validation requests, in conjunction with legal and commercial colleagues
Conducting software related supplier negotiations, and provide industry insight and detailed input on software entitlement and usage in order to inform software procurement activity and strategy
Works as part of a team to improve and refine our Joiners, Movers, and Leavers process
Manages the product catalogue on our ServiceNow platform

About You
What skills and qualifications do I need to be a successful Software Asset Specialist ?
Strong knowledge of the software marketplace and software licensing models and major software vendors and means of tracking and assessing compliance.
Strong technical understanding of Technology, including virtualisation and cloud delivery models.
Ability to review and understand detailed and complex software licensing terms and translate into plain English
Sufficient confidence and commercial experience to successfully negotiate with software licensors
Solid experience of software asset management and software purchase and licensing gained within a large company
Experience handling software audits by major suppliers, dealing with software regulatory bodies and implementing and embedding software asset management policy, process and tools, and delivering substantial maturity improvements
