Job description

Job Summary:

Salary range: £39,615 - £47,736 per annum
Work location: London
Hours per week: 36
Contract type: Permanent
Vetting requirements: Enhanced DBS check
Closing date: 12th March 2023
Interview date: Week commencing 20th March 2023

About Us:

Use your skills to help some of the most vulnerable children and young people in our community.

At the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, we put local people and businesses at the heart of everything we do, working in partnership with them to provide quality services that are responsive, effective and efficient. Rated as outstanding by Ofsted, we’re committed to improving the life chances of all our children, including those with special educational needs. Working in collaboration with the neighbouring borough of Westminster, our SEN service offers family-centric support from early years to preparation for adulthood.

The Role:

In this important frontline role, it’ll be your task to process the EHC assessments and reviews and produce outstanding quality Education, Health and Care plans that enable our children, young people and families to build positive and resilient futures for themselves. Championing the use of technology to record, track and monitor our ways of working to both manage performance and inform business intelligence, you’ll make sure that our systems are clearly and consistently updated with all relevant information. We’ll also expect you to co-ordinate a person-centred, outcome-focused and multi-agency approach to your tasks and ensure that all the clients you work with are treated as equal partners in the assessment and planning process.

But your work won’t stop here – you’ll also contribute to the development of initiatives and partnerships that encourage children and young people to build strong links with their local communities. Committed to ensuring that all the EHC plans you work on are of the highest quality and based on evidence from the child or young person, their families, schools and other professionals, you’ll also commission effective educational provision and school placements. Ready to challenge providers where outcomes are not achieved, and work alongside the relevant services where intervention is required, you’ll also ensure that the life transitions your clients experience – for example between school and work – are managed effectively and seamlessly.

Please refer to the Job Description for more information

About You:

Respectful, empathetic and highly organised – these qualities will be key to your success in this role, but you’ll also have some experience in an educational setting, with a local authority or with children and young people in a similar field. Educated to degree level, a relevant professional qualification – preferably in SEN – would be highly desirable, and it’s important that you have detailed knowledge of all applicable legislation and codes of practice.

You’ll be expected to attend meetings across the boroughs, so you should have a flexible approach to your work, and in addition to being passionate about your work, you’ll have a wide range of soft skills. This is a high-pressure, challenging role, but you’ll have the backing of a highly organised and supportive team, and as a brilliant communicator with effective negotiation and conflict resolution skills, your ‘can-do’ attitude will make you an inspirational and motivating colleague.

Join us, and you can look forward to a package that includes a competitive salary, a high-quality pension scheme and generous annual leave plus bank holidays. And as a key member of our team, you’ll also enjoy plenty of opportunities for development and progression within our organisation.

Please apply online explaining how you meet the requirements set out in the person specification and job description. CV’s will not be considered for this role.
