Celestia UK
Celestia UK Ltd is part of Celestia Technologies Group with expertise in Antenna, Radio Frequency and Digital Signal Processing (DSP) technologies. These will be used for communicating with satellite constellations that are gathering earth observation data and providing improved access to the internet. We are working in collaboration with the European Space Agency (ESA), UK Space Agency and other commercial partners.
The team here at Celestia Technologies Group (UK) Ltd have embarked on a challenging programme to design innovative technologies for High Throughput Satellite communication systems. Projects include the well-publicised large contract with the European Space Agency (ESA) to develop a fully electronic scanning ground station, capable of tracking and communicating simultaneously with multiple satellites, as well as Scottish-Enterprise funded development of an aerospace terminal for broadband satellite communications on the move applications. A broad range of technical domains are being worked on including Antenna, RF, Signal Processing, Beamforming, Digital Design and Real-time Software.

As a result, an opportunity has become available for an Assembly Technician to join our team in Edinburgh, based within our impressive RF labs and measurement facilities.

Assembly Technician
What will your job look like?
Role & Responsibilities

Responsible for assembly of eScan Ground Station & Terminal designs
- Assembly of System & Sub-System level assemblies including:
- Mechanical Assemblies
- PCB Assemblies
- Cable Assemblies
- Inspection of Assemblies against design packs
- Recording of build configuration into configuration control system
- Assembly of System & Sub-System level assemblies including:
- Supporting the manufacture of test solutions hardware
- Rework of items to rectify faults/design amendments
- Review & update of assembly procedures for design/process improvement
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
- Essential
- Small scale mechanical assembly down to items using M1.6 size fixings
- Use of torque tools
- ESD handling and assembly methods
- Sub-millimetre measurement techniques
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment
- Ability to operate with minimal supervision
- Desirable
- Soldering down to 0402 SMD component size
- Experience of material control systems
- Qualified in accordance with the latest issue of:
IPC/WHMA-A-620 Requirements and Acceptance for Cable and Wire Harness Assemblies.
IPC-A-610 Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies.
IPC J-STD-001 Requirements for Soldered Electrical and Electronic Assemblies.
