Job description
A pathway created exclusively for students who identify as belonging to an ethnic minority background, Admiral Aspire is back. Our summer internship has a track record of empowering talented students to launch their careers and successful candidates will take part in an immersive experience in one of our business support functions (Risk, Compliance, Product, IT, Underwriting, Data, Pricing and Finance are just a few). As the only FTSE 100 company headquartered in Wales and ranked one of the UK’s best places to work (Great Place to Work) Admiral is an exciting place to work.
You could be placed in any area of the business, so it’s important to keep an open mind, but our team will ensure that you interests and skills are taken into consideration and you’re placed in an area where you can excel and add value in a short space of time.
Industry experts across the business will have requested for you to join them, so you’ll be expected to get stuck into diverse and exciting projects as well as day-to-day tasks. You’ll be given real responsibility from day one and we’ll encourage you to bring new ideas to the table to drive innovative solutions.
You won’t be expected to join us with any prior knowledge, we’re looking for raw talent and firmly believe that the skills you’ve developed at university provide a valuable foundation to build on during your career with us. You won’t be alone either – you'll be assigned a mentor and be one of several interns joining, meaning you’ll have a strong network from day one and throughout your journey with us.
What can you expect?
- The opportunity to lead on projects in a FTSE 100 company – if you perform well, there may be opportunities to continue working with us after your studies
- A hybrid working model – you will be expected to come into our Cardiff office at least once a week and more frequently during week one. When you’re not in the office, you’ll have the option to work from home
- You’ll be joining with one of several interns, so you’ll have a strong network along with a comprehensive induction from day one
- To drive your own performance and learning – you’ll receive support, but the internship is challenging, and you’ll be expected to champion your own development
- You could be placed in any data area of our business, so it is important to keep an open mind
- Day-to-day your responsibilities will vary, depending on where you are placed

- Graduates or students in their penultimate or final year of university who identify as belonging to an ethnic minority background
- You’ll need to be eligible to work in the UK without company sponsorship.

- Excellent people and communication skills
- For you to be bold, open to change and to challenge the way things are done
- Personal drive and enthusiasm, with a passion for challenging yourself and developing new skills
- The readiness to learn about a new area from the bottom up
