Salary: Scale 4, Spine Point 7-10 £27,060 - £28,419, pro rata to term time only 0.8 FTE (£18,807.02 - £19,751.20)

Contract Type: Permanent, Part Time (4 days a week, Term Time only)

Location: Swiss Cottage, London Borough of Camden, NW3 3AQ

Are you someone who enjoys inspiring creativity in young people and is keen develop your skills in different art forms (eg. painting, sculpture, literature, photography)? If yes, we encourage you to apply for the position of Art Technician at the state-of-the-art UCL Academy.

As the Art Technician, you will support with the smooth running of the Art department. The Performance Faculty at The UCL Academy is highly successful and committed to inspiring a love of creativity and a passion for Art in all our students. You will have an essential role in continuing this through your role including:

  • Provide technical and practical support within the Art Department, ensuring equipment and materials are maintained and set up as appropriate and required
  • Being responsible for academy resources specifically for Art and providing training to both students and staff on equipment use where necessary
  • Supporting the internal and external opportunities that all subject areas offer for our students, through trips and excursions such as theatre and gallery visits
  • Working alongside the Art teachers in providing teaching support both in lessons and GCSE and A-Level examinations.

The successful candidate will have a keen interest in Art and either A-level (or equivalent) or a degree in the subject area. The candidate will need to be highly organised and have the ability to work under pressure and to deadlines whilst showing initiative. Candidates must have knowledge of how to use specialist Arts Equipment.

· Recent training or experience with clay and ceramics such as pugmills, kilns and slips.

· A-level in Art & Design or equivalent qualification or degree in a relevant subject

· A creative, proactive and approachable individual with a passion for the Arts

· The ability to work with groups of pupils under the guidance of the class teacher at a designated time period

· Have excellent communication skills and a high level of personal organisation;

· The highest standards at all times to ensure maximum progress and outcomes for learners.
