Salary: Grade 5 - (£29,364 - £30,852) FTE Salary

Role Summary:
As an Art, Food, Design and Technology Technician, you will work closely with the Head of Department and the team to provide essential technical support for teaching staff in Art, Food, Design Technology, and Photography. Your role will be critical in ensuring a safe and efficient learning environment while supporting students' engagement and attainment in these subject areas.
Main Duties:
- Provide high-quality technical support to the Art, Food, Design and Technology Department with a primary focus on Art
- Demonstrate expertise in the safe operation and maintenance of specialist equipment, ensuring compliance with health and safety guidelines
- Adopt a flexible approach to support a range of duties within the Art, Food, Design and Technology Department, including Textiles and Design Technology
- Oversee and be responsible for displays across the school, showcasing students' creative work
- Maintain all teaching areas in the Art, Food, Design and Technology Department, ensuring they are workable, attractive, and safe
Key Accountabilities:
- Order, prepare, and assemble teaching resources and equipment to support the curriculum
- Assist with the ordering of materials and equipment, maintaining stock control
- Support technical needs for school and public examinations and coursework requirements
- Provide support to staff and students on departmental tasks and projects
- Provide practical advice, support, and assistance to teachers and students in specialist areas
- Maintain the facilities in areas such as the dark room, kitchen, textiles room, and art rooms
- Ensure compliance with Food Hygiene Standards and Health and Safety regulations
- Help with the preparation and installation of students' work displays within the department and across the school.
- Provide guidance to students on design ideas and machining implications
- Assist students with project work and coursework supervision
Essential Experience:
- Relevant qualification in appropriate subjects (e.g., GCE/CSE, GCSE, BTEC first certificate)
- Practical aptitude and knowledge in at least one of the following areas: Food, Art, Textiles, or Photography
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff and students
- Team player with the ability to work within a school environment

- Previous experience in a similar role
