Main duties of the job
A fantastic opportunity has become available for an enthusiastic, committed and forward-thinking Arts Psychotherapist to join a growing and innovative team who work with Children in Care and the systems around them, in Suffolk. This post is permanent and full-time hours are available. The Connect service is a small group of individuals commissioned by social care who work within Mental Health, across Suffolk to support children and families who are defined as children in care aged 0-18. There are great opportunities to develop an understanding of true multi agency working and develop care around the child and family, to support placements and reinforce the family unit.
As we recognize that the needs of children and families are very different we will consider all candidates who possess a relevant qualification. This includes Art, Drama, Music and Play therapy, to allow children and families to understand one another and to express themselves. You must be a member of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) or equivalent
The clinician joining the team will have a key responsibility for using their skills to enhance communication and understanding of the needs of the child and family. You will be an active team player, supporting the wider needs of this small but highly skilled team and be a contributor to innovative practice.

You will be joining a therapeutic team comprising a Psychiatrist, Clinical Psychologists, Psychotherapist, Art Psychotherapist, Dyadic Specialist and Mental Health Practitioners. Many of the children and young people we see have a history of early trauma and attachment difficulties and we use a variety of approaches to help with this. Creative therapy is a valued and well-used resource for our team.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Masters level / professional Arts Psychotherapy Qualification (Art,Music,Drama or Dance Movement)
- Registration with HPC as an Arts Psychotherapist
Experience
Essential criteria
- Evidence of providing all aspects of Arts Psychotherapy to clients, carers and significant others.
- Documentary evidence of continuing professional development
- Group work in mental health
Desirable criteria
- Audit and research procedures
- Service development
- Training and ability to deliver other therapeutic approaches e.g. DBT, EMDR, IPT
Skills
Essential criteria
- Able to communicate effectively with a range of individuals, clients, professionals and organisations
- Able to demonstrate a flexible enabling approach to service delivery
- Work autonomously and set down priorities and practice
- Effective time management
- Basic ICT Skills Able to use reflective practice skills
- Reasonable confidence and competence in using IT systems (e.g. Outlook, Word, clinical or other record systems) relevant to the role.
