Position
In our content marketing agency, we are excited to be producing the in-store customer magazine for one of the UK’s biggest and most dynamic food retailers: Asda. As Art Director, you will take overall responsibility for the look and feel, shaping a modern, vibrant and diverse magazine that will be read by millions.
You will bring creative vision, original thinking and design direction, covering food, fashion, homes and community. You will inspire confidence in our client with your awareness of creative trends, and ability to express their brand. Joining a fast-paced, high-energy team, you will play a key role in delivering best-in-class creative every month.
Responsibilities
- Commission, plan and art direct outstanding food and lifestyle photography, working with best-in-class photographers and stylists, in line with client brand and creative direction
- Pitch a regular flow of creative approaches into the client, and work closely with them on shoots and overall design to fulfil our shared vision
- Lead a small design team day-to-day to deliver a brilliant magazine every month, maintaining quality, workflow, budgets and schedules
- Working hands-on, create scamps and lay out magazine pages in InDesign
- Collaborate with the wider team (editorial, account management) to innovate, ideate, pitch ideas and troubleshoot
- Oversee and / or design digital content (emailers, social graphics, animated gifs etc.) to support print magazine content
- Work closely with the client through the planning, delivery and review process to ensure a collaborative, creative relationship that meets their marketing objectives
A bit about you
Essential criteria for the role:
- Significant experience as an Art Director with experience directing food shoots for a retail/FMCG client.
- Customer publishing or agency-side experience delivering lifestyle content and design to a client brief, presenting ideas and liaising to director level. Able to communicate strategy, ideas and approach professionally, and inspire confidence in their judgement
- Proven and inspiring creative leader, able to unite a team to deliver a first-class publication. Proven ability to support colleagues by communicating clearly, offering useful advice and taking responsibility
- Energised by a fast-moving environment, able to prioritise, problem-solve and make good creative judgements under pressure
- Strong presenting skills and the ability to build client relationships.
- Experience of organising, booking and directing photoshoots is essential – preferably in the food sector.
- Thorough knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite, Indesign, Photoshop and illustrator.
