Job Description for Tutor at Insight Academy

Job Title Art and (Graphic) Design Teacher

Summary of Position: Online private tutor experience: at least 3 year’s teaching or tutoring experience, adept at using Zoom, able to plan and develop new lesson material; work to educational project requirements; uses dynamic teaching, mentoring and holistic personal development approaches to help students (i) improve and excel in school exams for Art & Design GCSE, A level or IB (ii) advise on accessing UK's top universities for art and design-related degrees and (iii) advise on portfolio of work at degree level. Briefing provided for each job.

Pay £40.00 per hour upwards, depending on job requirements.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • To meet and exceed the desired educational goals of clients (students and their families) for school entrance examinations.
  • Work seamlessly with core Insight team to work towards educational goals, and ensure excellent, pro-active client support, identifying and communicating barriers to success and (where needed) recommending educational interventions
  • Consistently efficient communication via WhatsApp, WeChat and/or email to benefit educational support of clients

Personal Specification

EXPERIENCE
Essential: At least 3 track-record of planning student progress to improving academic attainment in art-related school and/or degree subjects, especially advice on improving personal portfolio.

KNOWLEDGE
Essential: Intellectual interest and up-to-date knowledge on the content of school and degree subjects relating to fine art, design technology and graphic design.

QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING
Essential: University graduate
Desirable: Graduates from University of Arts London, Goldsmiths, Oxford and UCL, given the university destinations of our students.

QUALITIES & ATTITUDES
Essential: Interest in pedagogy and how current affairs and sociological trends can be reflected in art and design.

Competencies:
1. Creative planning and organising to help students achieve academic success
2. Commitment to excellence in art and design projects
3. Evidence of helping student achieve portfolio excellence

Job Types: Part-time, Freelance, Zero hours contract

Salary: From £40.00 per hour
