We are looking for an Art and Design Teacher in a school that offers excellent opportunities for professional development. Experience in Textiles is desirable, but not essential. William Perkin Church of England High School (Ofsted ‘Outstanding’) is one of four Twyford Trust schools, a successful multi-academy Trust based in the Borough of Ealing. The new post-holder will be an enthusiastic Artist who is a strong classroom practitioner with a commitment to achieving the highest standards both academically and in terms of engagement with Art. At KS3 we aim to provide our students will the necessary tools and skills to so that when they progress into KS4/KS5 they are able to demonstrate their ideas creatively and independently. They are taught the traditional techniques of drawing and painting, as well as gaining skills in textiles and ceramics. It is important to us that our students are given the opportunity to explore different media and each project focusses on a set of core content to prepare them for GCSE and beyond. Art history forms 50% of their grade for each assessment. Our students are able to appreciate and discuss artworks confidently having the knowledge and understanding of the context. They learn how meaning is communicated through art and how artists and craftspeople are able to express themselves through use of media. Students are also taught the importance of Art in the 21st century and how the Arts can lead to careers in creative as well as science based industries.

The successful candidate will have:

    • A good degree and Qualified Teacher Status
    • Ability to teach Art and Design, and ideally Textiles, to KS5
    • Confidence with the use of sewing machines
    • Knowledge of the requirements of the National Curriculum and Assessment Objectives
    • An understanding of recent curriculum / learning developments
    • An understanding of the strategies required to motivate and enthuse all students across the ability range as part of a whole school approach to raising achievement
    • An understanding of the processes and techniques required to assess, record and report students’ learning effectively
    • Ability to be reflective and driven towards self-improvement
    • A commitment to the ethos of the school.

William Perkin CE High School

William Perkin Church of England High School opened as a Free School in September 2013 with its first intake of Year 7 students, and now has seven year groups (7 – 13) totalling almost 1,400 students. The school is founded on the successful systems and approaches of Twyford CE High School, with the principle difference that it is a distinctively Christian school with open admission criteria. The school is rated ‘Outstanding’ in all areas by Ofsted (June 2015) and SIAMS (October 2016), and is oversubscribed on first choice applicants.


The Twyford Trust

The Twyford Trust comprises four schools in the London Borough of Ealing. The Trust was established in October 2011 to enable an existing School, Twyford CE High School, to build on its successes and look outward to the large number of parents who were eager to become part of its community. The Twyford Trust aims to deliver outstanding education in a comprehensive school setting, and embraces the Twyford School motto ‘Life in all its fullness’, encouraging students to use their individual gifts wisely and well. Supported by the London Diocesan Board for Schools (LDBS), the Trust is the overarching organisation which provides support for all Trust schools.
