- 93 Signal Squadron, is a Part-time Army Reserve Unit.
- We welcome male and female applicants, aged 18-42 years and 6 months, from all backgrounds.
- Previous experience is not required, you will be taught everything you need to know.
- After completing Soldier Basic Training, you will learn how to set up, maintain and operate secure digital communication systems, IT systems and Satellite communications along with opportunities to learn Cyber skills and gain qualifications.
- Your Part-time job could see you working in support of the emergency services and other government agencies during UK national emergencies or national events.
- We have recently supported the military response to the Covid-19 Pandemic in the UK. Our Soldiers & Officers have undertaken deployments to help facilitate the construction of field hospitals, ambulance decontamination and driver tasks, PPE unloading and distribution and the set up and manning of mobile testing units, community testing and mass vaccination centres.
- On Tuesday evenings, in our part-time role we perform regular maintenance on our communication detachments and equipment to keep them at high readiness to deploy at short notice, if required. The remainder of our training evenings are spent doing fitness development, learning new skills or revisiting core military subjects.
- There are at least 1-2 training weekend events per month that you can volunteer to deploy on. Training weekends are diverse, the focus could be on our soldiering skills, communication trade skills, a combination of both or adventure training. E.g. Climbing/abseiling, mountaineering, caving, kayaking etc.
- Sport plays a large part in Army life and as such opportunities exist to take part in almost any sport that appeals to you from Snowboarding to Rugby and many more besides.
- The Army Reserves offers a unique opportunity to learn new skills, get qualifications, meet new people, make lifelong friends and travel in your spare time. Most importantly, we understand that your family and your civilian employment must be prioritised over your Reserve Service.
Nationality & Residency Requirements:
- Prove that you either have British citizenship, or if you are a Commonwealth Citizen, Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) or Indefinite leave to Enter (IlE) must be stamped on your passport (Settlement) in the UK.
- Citizens of the Irish Republic joining the Army Reserve must be living in the UK to be eligible to join.
- Refugees and Asylum Seekers are not eligible to apply to join the Army Reserves. All candidates who have a Visa must provide proof of this throughout the recruiting process.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Minimum commitment of 27 days per year - maximum of 207 days a year (to include a 15 day continuous training event)
- Tuesday evenings 1930 hrs - 2130 hrs and some weekends (1 - 2 per month)

- No previous experience required

- Driving Licences (Car, minibus, HGV, Coach)
- Instructor Qualifications (Military subjects, sports and adventure training)
- Civilian Qualifications in communications
