Job summary

152 (North Irish) Regiment RLC is an Army Reserve Regiment with its Headquarters located in Palace Barracks, Holywood. The Regiment is the British Army’s only dedicated Bulk Fuel Transport and Storage Regiment in the British Army operating a fleet of Close Support Tankers and Unit Supply Tankers.

The unit consists of four sub units as follows: 211 Tanker Sqn based in Derry/Londonderry, 220 Tanker Sqn based in Holywood, 227 (HQ) Sqn based in Holywood and 400 Fuel Sqn based in Holywood. The unit has the capability to store and distribute bulk fuel anywhere in the world in order to support operational success.

The Quartermasters department Ammunition and Fuel/Lubricants storekeeper assists in the running of the unit ammunition, fuel and accommodation accounts, they will also be responsible for the correct storage and the issuing/receiving ammunition for the unit. This is a new role that will be a challenging and rewarding position with a variety of duties aligned to it. Ideal for a proactive, industrial and conscientious employee who has experience in handling and managing ammunition as well as general storekeeper duties.

Job description

The 152 (North Irish) Regiment RLC Ammunition & Fuel /Lubricants storekeeper assists in running the units ammunition store making sure all ammunition is secure, accounted for, and maintained in accordance with current regulations. They will be responsible for issuing and receipting all ammunition on account in order to allow all training activity involving ammunition within the units Forecast of Events to take place. In addition, the post holder will be responsible for the maintenance of all fuel/lubricant stores and associated accounts assigned to them ensuring they are stored, accounted for and maintained within the current regulations.

The post holder will be working at times as an individual; however, also in a small experienced team supporting the day to day functioning of the Quartermaster’s dept. They will be expected to keep all accounts up to date, issue and receipt all items on account, and keep Management Information Systems updated as well as collect and deliver stores from the Quartermasters dept. in Palace Barracks, Holywood.

The post holder will be working at times as an individual; however, also in a small experienced team supporting the day to day functioning of the Quartermaster’s dept. They will be expected to keep all accounts up to date, issue, and receipt all items on account, and keep Management Information Systems updated as well as collect and deliver stores from the Quartermasters dept. in Palace Barracks, Holywood, NI.


Person specification

Main Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the maintenance of stores relevant to the accounts assigned to him/her, ensuring that they are stored and maintained in accordance with current regulations.
  • Responsible for updating the QM on losses, damages or repairs to stocks held within accounts assigned to him/her.
  • Assist QM/RQMS/SQMS with any additional G4, SHEF, EC tasks including stores collection and delivery from main QMs Dept in Holywood.
  • Responsible for carrying out stock checks as directed by the QM/RQMS/SQMS, in conjunction with the delegated checking officer.
  • Maintain clean and tidy storage areas, complying fully with all applicable Health and Safety regulations including COSHH.
  • Assist co-workers with the unpacking, packing and placing of stores as and when required.
  • Responsible to the QM and RQMS and assisting them as directed.

Experience, Skills, and Qualifications required for the role:

  • A basic understanding on all SHEF regulations including the storage and management of COSHH items.
  • Able to communicate effectively and have good knowledge on Microsoft outlook, word, and excel.
  • Must have a full UK/Irish driving licence.

Desirable:

  • Dangerous Goods Notice consignor qualification.
  • Experience managing stores and have a recognised storekeeper qualification is preferred; however, all training requirements for storekeeper role can be carried out in post.
  • Experience in managing fuel accounts and having a recognised fuel manager qualification is desired; however, all training requirements can be carried out in post.
  • Should have experience managing ammunition and have a recognised ammunition storekeeper qualification, such as, all Arms Ammunition Storekeeper or equivalent. However, all training requirements can be carried out in post.
  • A basic knowledge of the Management Joint Deployment Inventory MIS system. MJDI training can be carried out in post.

Completing documentation in accordance with various Management Information Systems. Additional training can be carried out in post.
