Make a difference at one of the most precious sites in the Surrey Hills. Denbies Hillside is one of the finest wildlife sites in the country. From day-to-day care of the countryside estate to future planning and engaging with our visitors, we are after a brilliant Ranger to come to join the team.
Your office will have Skylarks and Nightingales in it, or to be speckled with Adonis Blues and Purple Emperors. No dodgy carpets here, our office floors are carpeted with Heather, Ox-Eye Daisy's and Bluebells.
37.5 hrs per week, permanent contract with flexible hours available to be discussed at interview. Some weekend working is required.
The salary will be between £27,846 and £33,423 dependant on experience.
What it's like to work here:If you're passionate about conservation, ecology and want to share that passion with others, then this is the role for you. As Area Ranger you'll be the first point of contact for your site. Taking charge of its management and care as part of the Surrey Hills ranger team under the guidance as support of the Lead Ranger.
We are a small and dedicated team working hard together to improve our sites, engage with our visitors and have fun whilst we do it. We are supported by some fantastic volunteers in our delivery of the aims and strategies of the organisation.
The National Trust and Surrey Hills team will always put our people first, support each other and seek to be one team looking after each other and helping wherever we can.
- Have practical experience of countryside/rural skills
- Have good communication skills including public presentation
- Have strong organisational skills including work programming
- Have a full UK Driving licence
- Diploma/NVQ3 or higher in countryside or environmental conservation
- Have good wildlife identification skills
- Significant experience of working with volunteers
