About the opportunity...
We are a successful, growing, award-winning retailer. As we expand our business even further, we are looking for experienced Area Managers passionate about all things retail and the customer journey. You will lead and support our stores to deliver the highest possible standards. You will be a commercial/people leader and, in turn, have the autonomy to manage our business to get the right results.
As an Area Manager, you will report into a Regional Manager and lead around 18 - 23 Stores in your area. At Poundland & Dealz, no two days are the same, which brings exciting challenges along the way. Our business is perfect for you to make an impact, and you will play a pivotal role in the future of Poundland & Dealz.

What you'll be doing...
- Coaching and Leading your teams through periods of change
- Implementing robust succession plans to develop future leaders
- identifying and nurturing the very best talent to create a “high performing” team
- Analysing Area performance and developing strategies to drive people/sales metrics
- Ensuring customer service is embedded and is the driver for all colleague behaviours to create an outstanding in-store customer experience
- Identifying and developing commercial action plans that drive sales and service
- Reviewing underperforming stores and developing strategies to address performance
About You....
You will have experience in the following:
- Leading and managing operational teams in a multi-site retail environment
- Delivering sales targets within a dynamic environment
- A proven record of accomplishment in implementing business plans and driving compliance
- Leading teams through significant changes
- Working knowledge of current employment practices
- Computer literate with a basic level of Excel
- Experience in presenting and influencing senior teams

In 2011 Dealz was born. The first stores opened in Blanchardstown and Portlaoise in Ireland. We continue to trade and rapidly expand in Ireland, Spain and Poland. Customers enjoy our winning formula of great value top brands and our extensive range, including many local products.
Our incredibly popular fashion brand PEP&CO is available in over 500 stores. It offers great value fashion for the whole family. It was nominated in the 2019 Retail Week Awards as Private Label of The Year.
Since July 2020, we have invested £45 million in a transformation programme. This includes new store openings and relocations, store revamps and investment in our distribution network. We are committed to playing our part in rebuilding confidence in ‘bricks and mortar’ retailing. Focusing on three types of stores;
- Destination stores offer the fullest range of products, including food, homeware, health and beauty and clothing
- Core stores offering a wide range of products on high streets customers love
- Convenience stores offer “grab and go” easy shopping
The 2020 acquisition of Fultons, the north of England frozen food retailer, is another vital part of our transformation programme, bringing our customers broader ranges and more choice. In 2022, we purchased the online discount retail business, Poundshop.com. The acquisition is another step in the transformation of Poundland. It will provide the infrastructure to power a national roll-out of our e-commerce operation.
We recently opened seven new stores, including our large format stores, and revamped 55 stores. We are also expanding our fresh range to another 30 stores over the coming months. Our continued success is driven by offering our customers high-quality products at ultra-low prices each and every day.
