WEA have an exciting opportunity for an Area Education Manager to join our Yorkshire and Humber team with responsibility for our work in York and North Yorkshire. This is a home-based role but will include travel across North Yorkshire so the ideal candidate will live within the area.

The Area Education Manager will have responsibility for operational delivery, key partnerships in York and North Yorkshire, identifying and growing business development opportunities in line with the strategic objectives of the WEA. They will work closely with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders including LEPs (or equivalent), local authorities, community organisations, employers and trade unions.
The scale and breadth of our curriculum offer is what makes us special. Reporting to the Senior Area Education Manager, the Area Education Manager is responsible for empowering your team to deliver inspiring education and learning opportunities, managing strategic partnerships and external relationships, your aim will be to grow the business development opportunities in-line with the WEA strategic objectives.
At the heart of our area team, you will support and manage Education Coordinators and Tutors, engage volunteers and local branches, identify business development opportunities and develop strategic partnerships partners to allow the regional portfolio to grow and develop.

As an Area Education Manager, you should have:
- A degree, or equivalent, with a teaching level 4 (level 5 specialism) and have IQA and Assessor qualifications;
- Extensive experience of working with a range of stakeholders, developing relationships and achieving mutually beneficial outcomes;
- Be an effective communicator, positive influencer with the ability to inspire your colleagues, volunteers and stakeholders;
- The ability to lead, support, mentor and coach your team to enable successful educational delivery;
- Experience in leading strategic development, delivery and quality of adult education provision;
- A strong team work ethic. We like to collaborate and support each other;
- A passion for adult education, and making a difference!
