Job description
We are the Environment Agency. Working with government, local authorities, businesses and communities, we make our environment a better place for people and wildlife. Acting to reduce the impacts of climate change is at the heart of everything we do.
We are looking for a leader who has the experience, vision and passion to set direction and provide strategic focus to a talented and value driven team of over 450 people across Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire.
There has never been a more interesting and important time to work in the environment sector. As the world grapples with climate extremes, species loss and challenges to water quality and supply; our work at the Environment Agency is more critical than ever.
Area Directors are at the forefront of our work on the ground, delivering positive outcomes with partners for communities and for nature. In this role, you will be part of a team of Area Directors working together to shape the environment across the Midlands and nationally, playing a critical role in responding to the climate and nature emergencies. You will have a crucial role in harnessing £multi-million budgets and developing sustainable strategies for some of the most at-risk parts of the country in terms of flood risk, social deprivation and economic growth.
An inspirational person, you’ll be accountable for the Health and Safety of your people, skilled at leading and motivating others to deliver the very best results for communities and the environment across Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire.
From handling major incidents to enabling continuous improvement and innovation, you’ll be accountable for the operational delivery of all aspects of our business for the Area. You’ll also manage the reputation of the Environment Agency at a local level by building productive relationships with influential external stakeholders, including politicians, communities, and third-sector organisations.
