We are now looking for an Archives and Records Officer to join our Swansea campus on a full time permanent basis, working 37 hours per week.
You will work with the Head of Special Collections and Archives to develop and implement policies, procedures and standards for the operation of the University’s Special Collections and Archives Service, which has recently taken on responsibility for records management.
You will help to ensure that an effective culture of good archives and records management is adopted across the University, addressing areas of current information risk regarding storage, retention and disposal.

- ABOUT YOU -
To be considered as an Archives and Records Officer, you will need:
- Professional qualification in librarianship, archives or records management, or working towards it.
- Practical and significant experience of working with records or archives, preferably including work with born-digital or digitised materials.
- Experience of leading projects, or taking lead responsibility for planning, setting and delivering agreed outcomes.
- Knowledge of legislation, standards and best practice relating to archives and records management, including digitisation standards.
- Demonstrable experience in the delivery of customer service excellence
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral) for liaison with staff, students and members of the public.
- Excellent presentation skills demonstrating enthusiasm for introducing special collections, archives and records to new audiences.
- Well-developed IT/digital skills, including experience of standard office applications and archive/records management systems.
- Ability to carry out tasks that involve some physical effort and dexterity.
- Ability to travel regularly and in a timely manner to Swansea, Carmarthen and Lampeter campuses. Please note that public transport in this area is limited, especially to and from Lampeter.
It would also be beneficial if you have:
- Previous experience of working or teaching in a further or higher education institution.
- Knowledge of and interest in new developments in digital preservation, and digital technologies and their applications in records and/or archives.
- Ability to communicate through the medium of Welsh (oral and written).
