Overview
Location: Manchester
As the demand for our expertise continues to grow, we now have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Workplace Design Assistant to join our team. Our ideal candidate would have a background either as an architectural assistant or interior designer working on workplace projects.
You will be based at our Manchester city centre office with over 100 staff working in a multidisciplinary workplace environment. You will be part of our talented, growing architecture and interior design team.
We offer a supportive and collaborative Design Team who will help you to develop of your skills.
Role and Responsibilities
- Assist in developing innovative workplace concept designs.
- Assistance with formulating and communicating a client’s brief.
- Collaborating with other members of the design team.
- Ensuring design proposals conform to the latest building regulations, technical standards and client design guides.
- Providing a practical and methodical approach to solving problems, working to fixed budgets and working within deadlines.
- Assistance with preparation of furniture and finishes schedules and Interior Design Procurement.
- Quality inspections of interior finishes on site
Experience and Skills Required
- An interest in both workplace interior design and a wide spectrum of creative disciplines.
- Interest in how workplace design can support wellbeing and collaboration.
- Excellent visual and verbal communication skills, conveyed through comprehensive drawing and visualisation, both digitally and freehand.
- The ability to work both independently and collectively on the creative and operational aspects of workplace design projects.
- Experienced in the scheduling and procurement of FFE and interior finishes.
- Work in a contemporary design language that can be applied to fulfil the specific demands of varying clients and their brands.
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Understanding of latest workplace space planning principles, interior design and delivering to design standards.
It would also be helpful to have:
- Experience of design work for clients using brand design standards.
- To have worked as part of a multidisciplinary design business.
- Familiarity with RIBA Plan of Work and Procurement Routes.
- Experience of Enscape
To be successful in this role, you will need to be an excellent communicator who can clearly articulate complicated issues to our clients. You will also need to show ambition and a willingness to learn whilst demonstrating a high-level diligence and organisational skills.
