Your role

As a Software Apprentice at HMGCC, you’ll complete an approximately three-year programme to earn a BSc Honours Degree in Digital and Technology Solutions (Software Development). Plus, you’ll get a paid membership to a professional organisation such as the Institute of Engineering and Technology.

Our apprentices get involved in real projects from the very start. So, while you’ll spend some time at our training providers’ sites in London or Manchester for learning and qualifications, you'll also get hands-on experience with sophisticated technologies in our local offices. During your first two years, you’ll gain experience in Software Engineering, before specialising in your final year based on your preferences and our business needs.

Our tech stack includes programming languages like Python, C#, C/C++, Java, and Java Script, and we also use modern platforms like Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS). Don’t worry if these are all new to you – we’ll teach you everything you need to know, so by the end of your apprenticeship, you’ll be fluent in programming.

Once you complete the programme, you'll have a solid foundation to kick-start your career as a Software Developer. And here's the best bit – your journey doesn't end with an apprenticeship. At HMGCC, your career can be as diverse and progressive as you want it to be. And with your skills and determination, you'll prove something's only impossible until it isn't.

What you need

Along with a problem-solving mindset and an interest in programming or technology, you’ll also have (or be predicted to achieve) 72 UCAS points, a Maths and English GCSE at Grade C/4 or above or equivalent functional skills (Level 2).
