Always learning something new?

The last person to give up?
You’ve got the potential we’re looking for.

Here at HMGCC, we’re a centre of technical excellence. Using world-class tech, we develop unique communication systems to help safeguard the country. It takes a huge range of people to help us do this – including our talented apprentices. With our support, you’ll use some of the latest tech to work on projects that protect national security. With your creativity and enthusiasm, we’ll teach you everything you need to know. So, if you’re the last person to give up, you’ve got the potential we’re looking for.

The apprenticeship
This is a 30-month programme where you’ll achieve a Level 4 Software Developer apprenticeship. During the first three months, we’ll focus on supporting you as you develop the coding skills you’ll need. Although you’ll spend some time in the learning and development block of HMGCC, you’ll also get started on real projects from day one. So not only will you be a member of a team of other apprentices, you’ll also be allocated a buddy and have plenty of mentoring support. It means you’ll put what you’ve learnt into practice and see how it all comes together.

And once you’ve completed your apprenticeship, you’ll begin your exciting career as a Software Technician in our Development Team or our Test and Evaluation Team – it depends what you enjoy. But your development won’t stop there. You’ll continue to get the very best out of yourself with our support.

Your profile
To join, you’ll need a keen interest in software. That means you’ll have achieved, or be predicted to achieve, an A-Level in Computing or Maths, a Level 3 Apprenticeship in Software Development, or an L2 BTEC National in Computing. And your mindset is just as important. You’ll be enthusiastic and the sort of person who loves working in a team and learning from others. It means you really enjoy getting stuck into new challenges and trying something new. And you take real pride in always doing your best. Curious about tech, your own ability and the impact you can have, you’ll quickly develop a positive reputation.

Rewards

In return, you’ll take advantage of our creative environment and world-class training. We’ll give you all the tools and development so you can become the best you can be. You’ll also receive access to our free on-site gym, lots of different social societies and 25 days annual leave.

Realise the future and apply.
