Starting Salary: £23,949 to rising to £27,055 once qualified per annum

Full Time: 37.5 hours per week

Locations: Norfolk and Waveney

Norfolk and Waveney Mind are seeking a number of well-motivated individuals to join us as Apprentice Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners (PWPs)working within the Wellbeing Service. This service is part of the national NHS Talking Therapies for Anxiety and Depression programme. It is a well-established partnership between Norfolk & Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust (NSFT) and Mind.For this position all posts are employed by Norfolk and Waveney Mind. You will be working in a fast-paced role that requires excellent organisational and time management skills, managing a high number of client contact sessions each day. This is a demanding role and there will be emotionally challenging conversations. It is normal to feel affected by these at times and we would support you to develop ways of managing your own wellbeing at work. The service provides regular structured supervision sessions which will also support you within the role. Client sessions are highly structured, approximately half involve assessing the mental health needs of new clients, which could involve signposting to other organisations. The remainder of the role involves delivering 30 minute coaching sessions using brief cognitive behavioral therapy-based (CBT) techniques, delivered via telephone, video calls, webinars, computerized CBT and face to face.

Successful applicants will therefore need to demonstrate:

  • Dedication to high level quality care
  • Excellent time management administration and IT skills to manage a high-volume caseload
  • Emotional resilience and openness to explore own self care
  • Understanding of the aims of the NHS Talking Therapies for Anxiety and Depression programme and willingness to work to within a target focused environment
  • Ability to work at specific locations in Norfolk
  • Ability to work flexibly, including some evenings with service opening hours once qualified (Service Opening Hours Mon-Fri 8am-8pm)

The training is fully funded and delivered by the University of East Anglia (UEA). PWP Apprentices undertake a Certificate in Higher Education in Low Intensity CBT as part of their apprenticeship.

Following the successful completion of the academic award, PWP Apprentices undertake an

End Point Assessment (EPA) administered by the British Psychology Society

If you are invited to interview, you must bring with you the original certificates and evidence for any relevant academic qualifications you hold. Offers cannot be made without this information. Applicants must have GCSE grade C or above in Maths and English or Functional Skills Level 2 in Maths and English to be eligible for the funded training.

Attendance at all UEA teaching days is compulsory and annual leave cannot be booked for UEA teaching days. Attendance is monitored and to ensure adequate development of competency trainees must ensure that their attendance does not fall below a set minimum (80% per module). Training courses begin 4th September 2023 and therefore successful applicants will need to be available for this time.

Due to the funding source, candidates must have UK residency status that allows recourse to public funds to be eligible to access the training course which accompanies this role.
