The team

Our News team delivers high quality and trustworthy television and online coverage that regularly attracts audiences in excess of 3.5 million viewers. It’s a fast moving environment with a huge variety of roles and challenges on offer. We operate in 11 main news production centres across England, Northern Ireland, Wales and the Channel Islands. We also have a Political Unit and a Weather centre based in Millbank, London. And finally, we produce a range of current affairs & factual programming out of ITV Wales, UTV and ITV Border.

The role

Do you want to work behind the scenes in TV news and current affairs? Do you like being hands on and learning on the job? Do you think you’d enjoy working with a team of creative people?

In this job you will support the ITV Cymru Wales gallery and studio team as an Apprentice Production Specialist. This role involves working in a live studio and gallery - learning how to do a variety of roles that include autocue, studio camera operation, editing, sound mixing and timing news bulletins along with a variety of other roles.

ITV Cymru Wales is the face of ITV in Wales. We’re part of the UK’s most popular free-to-air commercial broadcaster and home to some of the biggest shows on television.

Based at our state-of-the-art studios in Cardiff Bay, ITV Cymru Wales produces a variety of award-winning programmes, from news, sport and weather; to current affairs and factual programming. As well as making programmes for our own channel in Wales, we also produce a variety of shows for the ITV Network, S4C and other broadcasters such as the BBC.

Flexibility and organisation are essential, as is the willingness to travel. As such holding a full UK driving licence is preferable but not essential.

Being inclusive and representative is important to us both on and off screen and we are especially keen to encourage applicants with a disability and from within Wales' many Black, Asian and minority ethnic communities.

Across our organisation, ITV reaches millions of people everyday, which is why having diverse talents and being an organisation where colleagues feel included is crucial to us. We have various networks who celebrate and support our colleagues and we try to embed an inclusive mindset in everything we do.
