APPRENTICE - Mechanical Technician, Worcester
We’re looking for a Mechanical Technician APPRENTICE in Worcester, someone who is self-driven and looking to take their first steps to a career in production of industrial gases. This is an excellent opportunity to develop skills within a high performing operating team.

Annual wage
NMW for age Year 1, and Real Living Wage Year 2 and 3.
Working week
Initially Monday – Friday 09:00AM – 17:00PM with ½ hour lunch break. Varied shifts may be required in line with the needs of the business.
Total hours per week: 39

What will the apprentice be doing?
You’ll be working in a field-based role covering a wide range of activities from Maintenance, Inspection, Repair and Installation on customers sites with Air Products.
About You
No prior experience is required. You must have a strong sense for safety, bring commitment, passion, attention to detail, and a desire to learn. Maturity and ownership of your own learning and development is required.
If you have formal vocational qualifications (engineering or any operational background), it is a big plus.
No 2 days are the same within this fast-paced operating environment. Team working and problem solving will be skills you rely on to succeed.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
The apprenticeship follows a 3-year programme, with the first year spent off the job at CATCH in Stallingborough. The remainder of the apprenticeship is completed onsite at Air Products.
Accommodation paid; travel home for weekends and holidays will be covered for Year 1 only. Year 1 training is based on site at CATCH in Stallingborough (Accommodation with be based in Hull and transport across to CATCH provided).
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
Successful completion of the apprenticeship could lead to a higher-level apprenticeship or full-time employment for the right candidate.
You will have developed a variety of interchangeable skills and have an in depth understanding of manufacturing and processes.

You will
- Comply with safety policies and practices
- Be given guidance and support
- Engage in the Routine Maintenance activities, carrying out repairs, diagnosing faults, inspections of equipment on Air Products and Customers sites.
- Work alongside Technical Co-Ordinators and Planners on a daily basis as well as Trained technicians and Engineers
- Learn ways to troubleshoot on various items of equipment.
- Identify and be actively involved in development and execution of maintenance related productivity ideas
