About the role
We have an exciting opportunity to join the HR Team in the Department of Paediatrics as our Apprentice Human Resources Assistant.
You will play an important role in providing a high-quality HR service to the department. You will administer recruitment and pre-employment processes, and collaborate with HR team members to manage shared inboxes and complete day-to-day aspects of HR, offering outstanding HR support to colleagues.
You will be required to complete a two-year training programme that will cover all aspects of the role and will be delivered through in-house training, as well as day-release or other distance learning methods delivered by Abingdon & Witney College. You will complete a CIPD Level 3 Apprenticeship which is within the (Human Resources) sector and you will gain CIPD Level 3 Diploma in Human Resources Practice qualification.
Please note that college attendance and successful completion of these studies is required as an integral part of this Apprenticeship.
You will be working in a growing department within the Medical Sciences Division. The Department of Paediatrics is a world leader in child health research and hosts internationally renowned research programmes in drug development, gastroenterology, haematology, HIV, immunology, neuroimaging, neuromuscular diseases and vaccinology.
This position is offered full-time on a fixed-term contract initially for two years.
Becoming an apprentice at the University of Oxford is an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience and training. You will work alongside experienced colleagues, whilst learning on the job and appropriate objectives will be set during the course of the Apprenticeship. At the same time, you will study for formal qualifications in your field.

About you
You will be educated to GCSE standard (English and Maths grade 4 or above) or equivalent. You will possess strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues within the team and across the wider department. You will have the ability to prioritise your workload to meet deadlines, and will be able to handle confidential information appropriately. You will have experience of Microsoft Office including Word and Excel. Previous experience of working within a service support role or personnel experience, including voluntary or part-time, would be beneficial.
