Job Summary
We have an exciting career opportunity for an Apprentice or Trainee Electronics Mobile Engineer in South East England around the Essex/Suffolk area.
You will have on the job training for tasks include installing our mobile measuring equipment for many applications, to a vast array of machinery, on a variety of business sites, from quarries to farms to recycling sites. Over time you will learn the skills required to mount in cab displays, the fitting of various sensing technology and wiring installation looms onto normally new Fork Lift Trucks, Telehandlers, Loading Shovels, Excavators, Combine Harvesters, Agricultural Drills and Sprayers. Training will include how to calibrate our systems plus diagnosing of problems and servicing, all to a high standard. The role also involves installing routers to transfer information to data transfer platforms via WiFi or 4G Link. Knowledge of the platforms with be part of your training modules as you advance.
This is a hands-on role for a conscientious individual that can work and train alongside our experienced engineers using their own initiative.
This is a field-based position. (There is no office). You will be expected to train with our engineers who depart from the Colchester area daily and work in South East England counties of: Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Northamptonshire Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, London, Middlesex, Surrey, Sussex and Kent.
As an apprentice you will be expected to travel to Bury St. Edmunds in Suffolk 1 day per week. You will benefit from:
· Competitive salary based on experience. Guide : £15.5K to £21K
· Minimum of 37.5 hours paid per week.
· As an apprentice, we finance your education at college and allow 1 day per week for study leave.
· Company pension scheme after 3 months employment.
· 24 days’ paid holiday per year – Excluding Bank Holidays
· Full product training on our range of equipment from our manufacturer
· Health and Safely, First Aid and Machine Operator training will be provided
· PPE and specific tools provided.
Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for your part in upholding the reputation of the quality of the Topcon/RDS systems and the impeccable service RDS MME provides. You will actively coordinate with the service team while also managing your own timekeeping. Control of stock, administration, expenses and always ensuring our mobilisation system is up to date. Be aware of, and apply Health and Safety regulations during daily tasks.
Desirable Skills
· Ideally have an interest in electronic ancillary systems and or agricultural/industrial mechanical machinery knowledge
· Basic IT knowledge. Word & Excel.
· Have an understanding and an ability to use technical/professional knowledge and information
· Must understand clear instructions and work well within a small team.
· Applicants need to have 4 GCSE’s including Maths and English grades 5-9/A-C or a commitment to undertake Level 2 maths and English prior to embarking on the apprenticeship.
· A clean driving licence is required.

Base Information
Location: Field Based from Colchester, Essex. (no office)
Full-time apprenticeship with paid day release at a college offering a course to complement your working experience to achieve an Engineering Fitters qualification Level 3.
