Apprenticeship - CNC Miller
Salary: Competitive
Hours of Work: 38 hours per week
We are a successful Engineering company offering a stable and lucrative career in our machine shop. We require two apprentices to train as CNC Miller – Setter/Operators, gaining 4 & 5 axis experience to set and operate CNC Milling Machines with Heidenhain control systems. You may also be trained on CNC Lathes using Fanuc control systems.
What will the apprentice be doing?
The CNC Apprentice will work alongside experienced engineers to gain expertise and the required competency level. You will learn skills, knowledge, and processes to produce quality precision engineered components to detailed specifications within strict production time frames and tight tolerances.
THE CNC APPRENTICE WILL GAIN EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE IN:
Setting, operating and programming CNC milling and/or CNC Turning machines to include 5 and multi axis machines.
Attain an Engineering qualification from City and Guilds / HNC or similar.
Speeds and feeds for different raw materials; controls; programming; safety and tooling
HEIDENHAIN / FANUC control language
Lean Manufacturing
CMM inspection and manual measuring tools and techniques.
A FULLY COMPETENT AND QUALIFIED CNC APPRENTICE WILL HAVE THE ABILITY TO:
Program machine tools
Operate CNC milling and/or CNC turning machinery.
Set fixtures and fittings.
Working to tight tolerances
Use manual measuring equipment.
Competently read manufacturing drawings
Desired skills and personal qualities
Communication skills, Attention to detail, Organisation skills, Problem solving skills, Number skills, Analytical skills, Logical, Patience, Strong Commitment, Time Management, Multi-work task management.
Qualifications:
GCSE or equivalent English (Grade 4) Essential
GCSE or equivalent Maths (Grade 4) Essential
