Clinical Engineering Apprentice at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery
Band 4 (Annex 21)
This is a training post whereby apprentices will be paid at the bottom of Band 2 for the duration of their contract
The Clinical Engineering department is a fast pace environment where tasks are turned around quickly to meet the demands of the medical staff and their patients. Therefore, we require an apprentice who pays attention to detail, is not afraid to ask questions and is able to learn on the job, whilst balancing the needs of their apprenticeship training
You will be based at the National Hospital for Neurology and neurosurgery in London. We are a world-renowned hospital responsible for the treatment of patients with neurological disorders and part of University College London Hospitals.
This is an exciting opportunity for somebody looking for a career working with Medical Equipment, to be paid whilst they learn! We are now looking to recruit a self-motivated individual willing to undertake two apprenticeship qualifications and join our team carrying out scheduled preventative maintenance, servicing, repair, calibration, safety and acceptance testing on a wide range of medical equipment.
A combination of work-based and formal training will be provided, with the opportunity to gain a formal level 2 qualification initially, and a formal level 4 qualification in Biomedical Engineering by the end of the apprenticeship.

Please note: to meet the criteria for the apprenticeship funding and qualification:
- GCSEs will be required at grades A-C/4-9 or equivalent
- Maths, English and Science certificates will be requested before applicants are invited to the assessment /information session- results slips cannot be accepted
- Applicants must have theright to work in the UK - UK/EEA- to meet the funding requirements
- Applicants must havelived in the UK for 3 yearsor more
- Applicantsmust notbe enrolled in any other form of education– for example, college, university or any form of apprenticeship
1st stage– Group - assessments/information session –17 March 2023
2nd stage–onsite interview / and visit to workshop -23/24 March 2023
