Job description
We are seeking a motivated and committed candidate to start their career in construction as an Apprentice Carpenter. This is an opportunity to earn while you learn a valuable trade on a paid apprenticeship.
Our ideal candidate
We are looking for someone with great teamwork, communication and practical skills, excellent attention to detail, and who is reliable, and able to work safely and responsibly. You will also need to be eager to learn at work and college, and ideally have an interest in the building industry. No experience is necessary, and so an apprenticeship is perfect for those coming out of college.
Due to the role covering multiple sites the candidate must have their own transport.
The apprenticeship
The apprenticeship covers, but is not limited to the following –
- Identify and confirm carpentry or joinery requirements and components against specification/drawings/CAD/BIM and in accordance with Building Regulations.
- Locate, handle, store, load, transport and position materials and components safely, minimising damage so they are ready for application.
- Prepare the site/workshop (including access equipment when necessary), power and hand tools appropriate to the project.
- Calculate the most efficient quantity, length and area of resources.
- Use and maintain hand tools, power tools and associated equipment to achieve optimum performance.
- Maintain a clear and tidy workspace and ensure that waste materials are disposed of in accordance with current legislation.

The employer
Our apprentices work on placement with a main contractor in their local area whilst employed throughout by Shared Apprenticeships. We are the employer.
We are committed to seeing each apprentice through to completion and onward progression to full-time employment in the industry and/or a higher apprenticeship.
We provide PPE, a CSCS card, and appropriate health and safety training. We also pay for study days, cover the cost of an NUS Apprentice Extra discount card and contribute towards travel expenses.

The study
The training provision for this Level 2 apprenticeship is expected to be delivered by a local training provider. Shared Apprenticeships may provide an opportunity to progress to a higher apprenticeship on completion.
Individuals without Level 1 English and maths will need to achieve this level and take the test for Level 2 English and maths prior to taking the End Point Assessment
