What to expect
The role of the Business Analyst is to review, analyse and evaluate Post Office business areas, user needs, business models, workflows and technological systems in order to deliver effective change. The BA will assess processes, articulate requirements, produce documentation and provide powerful insights to enable relevant stakeholders to make the right decisions. Working closely with the project manager, project sponsor or product owner, the Business Analyst ensures that project deliverables are clearly defined and understood and continue to be aligned to the agreed delivery outcomes throughout the project.
What's involved
Responsibilities vary across assignments. As an apprentice you would be expected to take a hands-on role within a project or programme. You will undertake a range of business analysis responsibilities and will be given the guidance, support and opportunity to make a real difference to the Post Office, while also achieving your BCS Certificate in Requirements Engineering and BCS Foundation Certificate in Business Change.
Our strategic portfolios cover the breadth of the Post Office and we have a broad range of projects in flight at any one time. Whether your interest is in delivering product change to our substantial network of branches or more around the development of supporting technology and infrastructure change, we have a role for you.
You do not need any experience – just a passion for making change happen, enthusiasm for working with others to solve business problems and a willingness to take on big challenges and see them through.
Principal Accountabilities
Analysis of project requirements, scope and objectives in order to ensure the successful delivery of outcomes in alignment with overall business strategy.
An enterprise wide, holistic view is essential, aiming to increase the adoption of best practice and the standardization of processes in order to reduce cost and unwarranted complexity.
- Ensure that the team works towards delivering required business outcomes in support of the Post Office strategy
- Investigate business issues, evaluate actions to improve the operation of the business and document the business requirements throughout every phase of the project lifecycle
- Develop content for business cases which can be referred to throughout projects to assess progress and measure outcomes
- Apply, support, maintain and promote BA best practice.
Future Prospects
Successful candidates will be encouraged and supported to develop their business analysis career within Post Office. There is a clear career path within the BA roles and experience gained through the apprenticeship will give insights into a broad range of other change roles, making a number of career directions possible.
