In order to apply for this post you will be willing to undertake training against an appropriate Apprenticeship Standard that will be delivered by an approved training provider. The Apprenticeship will last for 17 months in total, including 3 months to complete the endpoint assessment. Support will be provided throughout. If successful in completing the Apprenticeship, you will have the opportunity to progress to a substantive Business Analyst role with the County Council at Band B

We are seeking to take on an Apprentice Improvement Practitioner. You will work within a team of Business Analysts and your work will include-

  • Identifying and analysing services where changes and improvements are required, investigating to understand the root causes of problems
  • Building an understanding of the current and future demand for services, and what drives this
  • Identifying and evaluating a wide range of transformation and continuous improvement opportunities across the Council, to help ensure that they have the maximum intended impact
  • Promoting the use of varied continuous improvement tools and approaches among colleagues
  • Mapping complex Council and Partnership processes with a view to re-designing them to be more efficient and effective
  • Promoting and supporting a culture of creativity and innovation, drawing on examples of best practice nationally

A condition of this employment is the successful completion of the Level 4 Improvement Practitioner Apprenticeship. In order to undertake this Apprenticeship you must be educated to A Level standard or have already undertaken an Apprenticeship at Level 3

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is enthusiastic about working in a local government environment to deliver excellent services, and is keen to broaden their knowledge and experience.
  • Is able to analyse problems and their causes, and work with others to generate and evaluate possible solutions, demonstrating creative and critical thinking
  • Is well organised and can work to sometimes tight timescales in a pressurised environment to deliver good quality outputs.
  • Can use negotiation and influencing skills with stakeholders to obtain buy-in
  • Is excellent at communicating key messages to a range of audiences and can design and deliver engaging presentations
  • Understands why Equality, Diversity and Inclusion is important, and has shown commitment to this
  • Is able to analyse a range of factors in complex systems to help understand what action is required
