Job description
Passionate about bricklaying or carpentry and other aspects of building, the successful candidate will need to be physically fit and have plenty of stamina for this demanding role, which will involve working indoors and outdoors. As part of the apprenticeship you will be studying a L2 in either Bricklaying or Carpentry which will include both theory and practical work with one of Redrows chosen training partners.
For Apprentice Bricklayer:
Conforming to general health, safety and welfare in the workplace
Set out and build brickwork, including complex arches and surrounding brickwork, curved on plan, concave and convex brickwork and battered brickwork.
Mixing mortar by hand or with a mechanical mixer
Laying the bricks on top of each other and applying the mortar with a trowel
Shape and trim bricks/blocks using hammers, chisels and power tools.
For Apprentice Carpenter/Joiner:
Conforming to general health, safety and welfare in the workplace
Using a range of hand and power tools
Building studwork walls and staircases
Fitting kitchens
Hanging doors, pitching roofs, fitting hinges and Installing floor joist coverings
