Apprentice Bricklayers
Our exciting and innovative Apprenticeship Programmes are designed to attract and develop a diverse range of talented individuals who will contribute to the continued growth and success of our business.
This role forms part of the Construction Team. Construction is the part of the process which is most visible and where craft trades are required. This is where the vision and planning becomes a reality!
The location of workplace for the candidate will be confirmed upon appointment, and site will be appropriate based on candidate location. However, please note that some travel will be involved in this role.

a nationally recognised qualification – Level 2 Bricklaying
- We anticipate this qualification to be delivered by learning provider: Leicester College or Northern Nots College, however this can be reviewed with the successful candidates.
- Course Duration: up to 33 months, plus end point assessment (EPA)

Tell me all about the role!
- Assist with building or repairing of brickwork in accordance with building plans.
- Ensure the provision of safe, efficient and cost-effective works at all times.
- Assist with analysing and interpreting building drawings and specifications.
- Maintaining structures, walls and foundations using various types of bricks.
- Cutting and trimming bricks using hand and power tools.
- Receive and complete work orders delegated by site management and assist in delivering them to required timescales.
- Assisting with restoring, cleaning, or painting existing brick structures.
- Learning to solve problems with the use of various materials and methods.
- To work effectively as part of a team and with other trades.

What is an apprenticeship?
An apprenticeship is a paid job which offers hands-on work experience alongside off-the-job training to anyone over the age of 16. As an apprentice you are an employee with a contract of employment, holiday leave and all the benefits of being a full time member of staff. By the end of an apprenticeship, you'll have the skills and knowledge needed for your chosen career along with practical experience and a nationally recognised qualification.
What does off-the-job training look like at Bellway?
Our apprentice opportunities are registered with a college or training provider to deliver the apprenticeship framework or standard. There is a range of delivery methods such as, attending college one day each week, an assessor delivering sessions in the workplace, or distance learning.
Apprentices will also have the opportunity to attend regular skills workshops to develop transferable skills, business knowledge, and build a network of peer support to share best practices.
What is the application process for Bellway’s Apprenticeship Programme?
All applications will be initially reviewed by dedicated members of our team, taking each of our Key Competency areas into consideration.
Following a successful application, you will be invited to take part in a short Careers Conversation. This conversations helps us to assess your suitability for the role.
Our final stage consists of the following depending on the Level of Apprenticeship:
- Level 2 – 3 Apprenticeships: A final stage interview held with the local hiring manager, this will be face to face in either the Divisional Office or a Site nearby.
- Level 4+ Apprenticeships: An online assessment centre consisting of various assessed activities hosted by members of the Bellway HR Team, and various Hiring Managers across the business. Should it be required, you may be invited to an informal face to face meet with the Manager to finalise the outcome of your application.
What is the closing date for applying?
Our application window will be open until 19th March 2023, but we would encourage you to apply as soon as possible. Bellway reserves the right to close vacancies should they receive a large volume of applications before the closing date.

How does Bellway assess their applicants?

How long does an apprenticeship take to complete?
An apprenticeship takes a minimum of 12 months to a maximum of 5 years depending on the level of apprenticeship that you are studying and which industry sector you are training in.
By rule of thumb:
- Level 2: 12-18 months
- Level 3: 24 months
- Degree: up to 5 years
