Apprentice - Cyber Security - Level 6 Digital and Technology Solutions Professional

You’re not just looking for a career, you’re looking to make a difference.

Millions of people rely on us every day to help them live their lives, power their businesses, and keep their public services running. We connect friends to family, clients to colleagues, people to possibilities. We keep the wheels of business spinning, and the emergency services responding. And we use the power of technology to help solve big challenges, like climate change and cyber security.

From day one, you’ll have a voice at BT Group. You’ll get stuck in to tough challenges, pitch in with ideas, make things happen. You won’t be alone: we’ll be there with help and support, learning and development. You’ll make great friends, discover new talents, and feel part of something exhilarating.

This is your chance to make a real difference to the world. Grab it.
What you'll be doing

Our award-winning apprenticeship programme offers you the opportunity to gain qualifications, hands-on experience as well as personal and professional development. You’ll be joining us in Security, a team that deals with thousands of cyber-attacks across our networks every day, so that millions of people can safely go about their daily lives and run their businesses.

You’ll be part of a team of experienced Cyber Security professionals, so you can learn directly from the best. We’ll start you off with some key concepts like security, identity and confidentiality and how they relate to each other. We’ll make sure you’ll gain experience in different attack techniques and sources of threat and how to defend against them. You’ll be g trained and gain experience on how to deploy cyber protection techniques via software development. You’ll also learn about security deployment and assurance, and how to apply cyber security concepts to networks and IT infrastructure.

We’ve got lots of different roles you could be doing, from working in our Security Operation Centre, to supporting our external customers in our Cyber Security Engineering team or taking on a more specialised role with our teams in Solutions & Software. No matter what you end up doing every day, you’ll learn all you need to play an important part in protecting us, and our customers.

This role is available in the Networks part of our business.

About the apprenticeship you'll be studying for

As a Cyber Security Degree Apprentice, you’ll study for a Level 6 Digital & Technology Solutions Professional apprenticeship with Cyber Security Specialism. This is an apprenticeship degree course, and on successful completion, you’ll receive a degree from one of our university partners (completion is required to retain the role).

The degree course runs for three years and is a work-based learning degree. You’ll spend a minimum of 20% of your time learning and studying.

Entry Requirements

You’ll need to achieve (or have achieved) three A-Levels with a minimum of BBC grades, which must include a STEM subject at a minimum grade B. You'll also need to have a minimum of five GCSEs at grade 4-9 (C or above) including English and Maths. Equivalent qualifications are accepted.

Due to the sensitive nature of some of our roles, you may be required to undergo Security Clearance. Don’t worry, our Early Careers teams will talk you through this if needed.
