Learning Support Assistant (LSA)
College location: John Ruskin (Selsdon) or East Surrey College
Hourly pay rate: £12.32/hour - Term Time Only (£10.42/hour + £1.59/hour as
payment for annual leave) across 34 weeks each Academic year
Hours: Part-time hours across 3-5 days per week and must be available
between 8:45am-5:00pm
We are currently seeking to appoint a number of Sessional Learning Support Assistants to assist and support our Curriculum staff in a number of different departments across the College.
As a Learning Support Assistant you will help the College to provide a quality learning environment with the ultimate aim of raising levels of attainment. The role will involve working with learners with a variety of support needs, including those with emotional and behavioural needs, learning difficulties and those who have disengaged from mainstream education.
This rewarding role will suit dedicated and self-motivated individuals, who really want to make a difference. You will provide support to students across a broad spectrum of curriculum subject areas, including and not limited to; Art, Design and Media, Business & Professional Studies, Technology, Supported Learning, Service Industries such as Hair & Beauty, Sports, Science. Industry experience in any of these areas would be an advantage.
The successful candidate must:
- Have excellent communication skills
- Be qualified to at least level 2 in Literacy and Numeracy
- Have competent IT Skills and the ability to use Word, Excel and Outlook
- Experience of supporting students in a College or School environment
Ideally candidates will hold a qualification in providing learning support or will be willing to obtain this qualification.
Please note that if you are successful in your application you will join our Sessional “bank” of staff. Once on our bank of staff you will be allocated hours as and when they are available. We are looking for individuals who are able to commit to ideally at least three days a week. Normal College working hours are 08.45-17.00 but end times can be flexible depending on student timetables.
