Job title: Application Support Associate
Location: Barrow-in-Furness. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.
Salary: Circa £40,000 dependant on skills and experience
What you’ll be doing:
- Monitoring applications to ensure they are working optimally
- Applying fixes to failures within applications
- Maintenance of log files and general proactive maintenance and housekeeping of applications
- Working alongside Project teams to support new application implementations, existing application upgrades and configuration of integrations
- Taking part in OOH Support for a limited number of applications in the portfolio
- Keeping knowledge articles and team documentation up to date and relevant
- Following ITIL processes for Change Management as an example to ensure changes are implemented
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
- Familiar working within ITIL aligned-processes – Request, Incident, Problem and Change Management
- Experience of Supplier Management – communicating with hosting providers and software vendor support teams
- Use of Service Management tools such as ServiceNow Service Desk
- Investigative and diagnostic skills
- Experience working with MS Office
Desirable:
- ITILv3 certification to at least foundation level an advantage
- Experience of Oracle and/or SQL Server databases
- Experience of Unix and Linux
- Experience of Oracle Weblogic, Oracle OSB and Oracle SOA

The Specialist Applications and Services Team:
The Specialist Application Services Team is a 2nd line support team, providing 2nd line support for in excess of 100 applications used by BAE Systems Submarines. The role is mainly working with and monitoring application that are installed on servers.
