Applications are invited for the post of Application Trainer in to a busy Digital Services department responsible for the technical support of over 18,000 NHS employees.

The IT Training Team has a rare opportunity to join a well established team to deliver clinical and non clinical systems training in a large organisation.

This role will be responsible for co-ordinating the day to day delivery of IT clinical, desktop and business system training to end users Trust-wide and the administration of test centres in line with audit requirements to maintain accreditation.

They will also be responsible for the design, development, delivery and support of a full range of IM&T training - clinical, business and desktop enabling Trust staff and external customers to work more effectively with Information Technology.

Applicants must be numerate and literate with a minimum of 5 GCSE passes including English and Mathematics and hold a teaching and or training qualification or have equivalent experience. Experience of working in a training environment is essential.

Applicants should also have the ability to work to strict deadlines in a pressurised environment, and should demonstrate a positive attitude and a sympathetic and patient personality, together with good organisational skills.

Floorwalking clinical areas to support new staff with the use of new clinical systems.

  • To be responsible for co-ordinating the day to day delivery of IT clinical, desktop and business system training to end users Trust-wide and the administration of test centres in line with audit requirements to maintain accreditation.
  • To be responsible for the design, development, delivery and support of a full range of IM&T training - clinical, business and desktop enabling Trust staff and external customers to work more effectively with Information Technology.
  • Responsible through work activities in meeting national education, training and development standards for quality.
  • Education of Trust staff in relation to IM&T within NHS guidelines to deliver local and National strategies.
  • Act as deputy for Team Leader.
  • Act as first-line lead trainer delivering clinical, desktop and business system training thus ensuring staff have the knowledge of how to use the systems. This will involve participation in “train the trainer” programmes.
  • Responsible for delivering training in the use of all clinical, desktop and business applications in clinical and not clinical locations.
  • Ensuring competency is achieved and enabling Trust staff to work more effectively with Information Technology.
  • To assist the Training Team Lead / Senior Trainer in developing and implementing an Education, Training and Development program for all Trust employees in line with local Implementation strategies and national NHS plans across a variety of clinical and non-clinical training interventions.
  • Ensuring that the training delivery is focused on improved patient care.
  • To design lesson plans, eLearning materials and supporting documentation; deliver training to end system users in accordance with agreed standards.
  • To provide effective training to a varying range of clients in terms of IT ability and knowledge, tailoring training courses where required. Complete assessment and evaluation of all learning and training and make improvements based on results.
  • Identify Individual learning requirements and perform group training needs analysis and design/adapt training to meet the needs of the learners based on the results
  • Deliver training in line with IT Skills Pathway to meet NHS targets.
  • Invigilate testing for candidates to meet NHS targets. Assist providers in continuous development of learning and testing materials.
  • Maintain own skills via Training Assessment Programme (TAP) qualifications, Microsoft application skills and invigilator status through regular assessment and participation in Trainer observation to promote continual development.
  • Work to the Department of Health national quality improvement standards for education training and development.
  • Collaborate with other teams within the department to resolve application and system issues for end users.
  • To identify the IT learning needs of the Organisations and their individual staff members, and plan and implement appropriate learning strategies.
  • To work with the relevant management and deployment teams during the deployment and go-live phases of projects to ensure a smooth transition to the new applications solutions and business processes.
  • In delivering training develop the confidence of learners and provide each learner opportunities for achievement and progression, whilst ensuring that the project timetables are adhered to.
  • To provide flexible support to staff undergoing training within the primary and community healthcare teams, acute trusts and external customers.
  • To ensure that there is a system in place for the on-going maintenance and development of a structured TNA (Training Needs Analysis) for all end users.
  • To maintain an electronic register of relevant attendees, and participate in performance monitoring of training delivery and materials, including analysis of training data and evaluation reporting in conjunction with the IT Training Manager.
