The Role
Work in a global application support team supporting products all over the world- Manage application layer and work closely with development teams
- Be an extension of development teams to harden products
What You’ll Do
- Provide 24x7 On-call support on a rotational basis and effectively diagnose / triage / fix systems during outages
- Effectively deploy applications by building automation suites.
- Install, configure and tune middleware (Apache, Tomcat, IIS, Redis, ELK, etc)
- Setup monitoring at all layers of application tech stack and resolve alerts quickly
- Application performance tuning, outage troubleshooting / triage, short term / long term fixes
- Work closely with development team to provide detailed information for product improvement
- Reduce downtime with improved application architecture and redundancy
- Create tools for standard triage; stack dump, centralized logging; to support defect resolution
- Ensure design, infrastructure, process/operational documentation is up to date
- Facilitate production deployments
What You’ll Bring
- Experience in leading 24x7 support for highly critical customer facing applications with technical depth in troubleshooting issues quickly and following up with permanent fixes.
- Strong familiarity with broad range of technologies: Windows/Linux, multi-tier web applications, middleware (web/app servers, containers, message queues, etc), containers, databases, networking, Citrix/VDI, etc
- Strong affinity to automate repetitive tasks, leaning out processes that drive down outages and deliver quick results
- Familiarity with Public & Private Cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP), VMware virtualized systems environments.
- Knowledgeable of source control management and CI/CD.
- Good understanding of application architecture, databases, knowledge of java, .net, python preferred
- Networking architecture understanding (F5, haproxy)
- Authentication; OpenID and CAS, Icinga, vmware, git, rundeck advantage
- Ability to drive own bodies of work using Atlassian stack
- Intellectual curiosity, and a can-do attitude
