Biological Services Facility (BSF) Grade 3 Animal Technician
The Biological Services Facility (BSF) within the Department of Biology is seeking to appoint a Grade 3 animal technician. This role offers an exciting opportunity for an individual to start their career in the field of animal husbandry and transgenic science. You will make a major contribution to the technical excellence and successful performance of the BSF. The role will include operational husbandry duties as part of the BSF team whilst working in compliance with standard operating procedures. You will assist with the operation of the animal facility including the husbandry, breeding and maintenance of wild type and transgenic mouse colonies, rodents, Xenopus and fish. The role includes animal husbandry duties such as assisting with feeding and watering, cleaning and washing of cages/tanks. The role holder will assist with Home Office procedures as and when required.
You will be educated to GSCE Math and Science minimum and will be willing to undertake further training and qualifications in the field of animal technology. The role holder would be expected to have recent proven reliability in the workplace. The role involves flexible working including weekends and bank holidays as part of a rota basis.

Hours of work are 37 hours per week. Salary will be in the range £23,715 – 25,642. This appointment will be offered on a permanent basis.
